The Cure, Elbow and Depeche Mode are amongst the bands who have lent their support to a campaign to save BBC 6 Music.
The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) has set up a website called Joy Of 6 Music which features quotes from an array of famous musicians who want the digital radio station to stay open.
Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan said the BBC's planned closure of 6 Music at the end of 2011 would be “one of the biggest broadcasting injustices ever.”
The Cure's Robert Smith echoes the sentiment, writing: "It is one of the few ways - if not the only way - for musicians new and old unwilling or unable to conform to any dull, notional mainstream to be heard by a national audience."
Meanwhile, Guy Garvey simply hailed 6 Music as “without doubt, the greatest radio station in the world."
Other artists who have made similar quotes include Kaiser Chiefs drummer/songwriter Nick Hodgson, The Ting Tings, Suede's Brett Anderson, Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran, Editors and Friendly Fires.
In other news, Depeche Mode are in the running for the greatest band logo of all time. You can vote for them HERE.
