Noel Gallagher has backed a campaign for England to host the football World Cup in 2018.
The Sun newspaper has launched a bid to save England’s chances of securing the tournament following an alleged corruption scandal.
Gallagher, a life-long Manchester City supporter, said: "England should win. It's a travesty we have only had it once."
England had been one of the favourites to bring the World Cup back to the country for the first time since 1966.
But a scandal involving former bid chairman Lord Triesman has now cast doubt over their bid.
Other supporters of the newspaper’s campaign include Fatboy Slim, former England captain Alan Shearer and current manager Fabio Capello.
