Glastonbury festival organisers have said that they will attempt to reschedule U2’s appearance at the event.

The Irish band have been forced to pull out of their headline slot later this month after singer Bono injured his back.

They will be replaced on the Pyramid Stage by Gorillaz.

However, organisers told the Irish Post that they were hopeful that U2 would return in the future.

“They’ve never played here before and we’re very disappointed they can’t perform, but they could well be back next year or the year after that,” they said.

Muse and Stevie Wonder will also top the bill at the festival, which runs from June 25-27 at Worthy Farm in Somerset.
