Lou Reed has denied reports that he refused to allow Susan Boyle to sing his hit 'Perfect Day' on America's Got Talent.
On Thursday, tabloid reports claimed the Britain's Got Talent star had been reduced to tears by Reed's refusal.
The former Velvet Underground frontman had apparently turned down the 49-year-old Scottish star because he wasn't a fan.
But a rep for Reed told Access Hollywood that the reason Boyle couldn't perform 'Perfect Day' was because it had been cleared for UK performances, but not the American market.
Boyle was apparently offered the opportunity to perform another track but turned it down and flew back to the UK instead.
‘Perfect Day’ featured on Reed’s second solo album ‘Transformer’, which was released in 1972.
The finale of America's Got Talent is due to air next week on NBC.
