Kanye West Writes Magazine Article About Himself

Kanye West has written a first person narrative profile of himself for a magazine.

The rapper uses the editorial piece in the October issue of XXL magazine to address the fall out from his outburst at last year's MTV Video Music Awards.

West caused outrage when he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech. His critics included President Barack Obama, who labelled him a “jackass”.

In a the magazine, West wrote: "In a way, I had thrown a Molotov cocktail at my own career, and it gave me an opportunity, for the first time, to go away and find out who I was.

"Because I felt very alone. I stress that the incident wasn't about Taylor personally. And it definitely wasn't about race.

“Where I messed up is, at the end of the day, it's your show, Taylor. It's your show, MTV."

West went on to compare to his relationship with his fans with the relationship with a girlfriend.

"I knew I wasn't in a great spot publicly after the incident, but I would just block it out and work as hard as possible and let my work be my saving grace," he added.

As previously reported on Gigwise, the rapper is due to release his new album in November.

The as-yet-untitled record will be accompanied by a 40 minute movie.
