Russell Brand Arrested 'Protecting Katy Perry From Paparazzi'

Russell Brand has been arrested following an alleged altercation with paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport.

The comedian has been accused of striking a photographer as they tried to take pictures of him and fiancé Katy Perry at airport security on Friday (September 17).

US Weekly reports that Brand was put under citizen’s arrest by the photographer. The 35-year-old was interviewed by airport police before being taken into police custody for suspected battery.

He was later released after posting $20,000 (£12,800) bail and is due to appear in court on October 15.

In a post on Twitter, Perry wrote: “If you cross the line & try an put a lens up my dress, my fiancé will do his job & protect me.”

She also added the two hash tags: “#standbyourman” and “#don’t****withtheBrands#.

Brand and Perry, who both missed their scheduled flight to Las Vegas, are due to marry this year.

After making his name in the UK, Brand is now trying to forge a movie career in Hollywood, and is currently filming a remake of Arthur.
