Carl Barat: Escaping Libertines Comfort Zone Was 'Difficult'

Carl Barat has admitted he found recording a solo album “quite difficult”.

In an interview with Gigwise, the Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things star said it was challenging going it alone after being used to performing in a “gang”.

“It is quite big, and it is different,” Barat said. “In a way getting out of my comfort zone was quite difficult.

“I don't want people to be burning their Libertines bras, but hopefully people appreciate the songs are written from the same place.”

Barat's self-titled debut is due to be released on Monday (October 4).

Meanwhile, the singer's memoirs, Threepenny Memoir: The Lives of a Libertine, were released this week.

You can watched Gigwise's full interview with the singer, during which he also talks about The Libertines' recent reunion, on Gigwise TV on the right hand side of this page.
