Lightning Seeds frontman Ian Broudie has described the current owners of Liverpool football club as “incompetent”.
The singer said Tom Hicks and George Gillett had “fluffed their lines” ever since they took over the club.
Liverpool’s future has been thrown into doubt in recent weeks as New England Sports Ventures (NESV) attempt to take control from Hicks and Gillett.
In an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live, Broudie - a life-long fan - said he was “very confused” by the saga.
He said Liverpool’s current owners had become like “cartoon villains”, comparing them to Dick Dastardly.
“I think when there was a rift between them things got markedly worse, so it’s almost been a joke really,” he said. “They’re kind of worse than you can ever imagine.”
Broudie added that NESV seemed a “competent” alternative to Hick and Gillett.
NESV, who are the Liverpool board's choice as new owners, are on the verge of completing their takeover of the club.
