Ray Davies has said that his brother Dave is “coming round” to the idea of a Kinks reunion.

The 60s band, whose hits include 'You Really Got Me' and 'Waterloo Sunset', last performed publicly in 1996.

The group came close to reuniting in the early 00s, but guitarist Dave suffered a stroke in 2004.

However, in an exclusive interview with Gigwise, singer Ray said his brother and drummer Mick Avory had discussed getting back together.

“The interesting thing is I’ve had emails both from Mick and Dave about various other subject matters, but I think it will be down to Dave at the end of the day," Davies told Gigwise. "But he’s gradually coming round to it."

The singer said he had already written new material with Avory should the band get back together.

“I’ll play some old songs, but new songs are what keeps me alive,” he added. “I think hardcore fans and new fans want to hear new material.”

Meanwhile, Davies has re-recorded several Kinks songs with the likes of Metallica and Bruce Springsteen for a new collaboration album.

The LP, entitled 'See My Friends', is released on November 1, and also includes Bon Jovi, Mumford & Sons and Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan.
