Kanye West has claimed that the cover for his new album has been banned in the USA.
The artwork for 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy', designed by visual artist George Condo, depicts a naked West “chilling on the couch with my phoenix”.
In a post on Twitter, the rapper expressed his surprise at the decision but said he wasn't bothered.
“In the 70s album covers had actual nudity,” West wrote. “It's so funny that people forget that...Everything has been so commercialized now.
“In all honesty...I really don't be thinking about Wal-Mart when I make my music or album covers. I wanna sell albums but not at the expense of my true creativity.”
Referring to the cover for Nirvana's 1991 album 'Nevermind', he added: “So Nirvana can have a naked human being on they cover but I can't have a PAINTING of a monster with no arms and a polka dot tail and wings.”
‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy', which is West's fifth album, is released on November 22.
