George Bush: Kanye West's Hurricane Katrina Outburst Was Disgusting

George Bush has broken his silence about Kanye West’s infamous outburst over his reaction to Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

West claimed during a live telecast that the then president’s slow response to the crisis was because he didn’t “care about black people”.

In an interview to promote his new autobiography, Decision Points, Bush said he believed West’s comments painted him as a racist.

When interviewer Matt Lauer then clarified what West had said, Bush replied: “It's one thing to say, ‘I don't appreciate the way he's handled his business’. It's another to say, ‘This man's a racist’.

“I resent it, it's not true and it was one of the most disgusting moments in my presidency.”

In Decision Points, Bush writes of the controversy: “The suggestion that I was racist because of the response to Hurricane Katrina represented an all-time low.”
