Lupe Fiasco has said he wants to release a second new album before the end of 2011.
The rapper released his much-anticipated new record ‘Lasers’ this week following a string of delays caused by a battle with his record label.
In an exclusive interview with Gigwise, Fiasco said he was happy that the album had finally come out but that he was already working on the follow-up.
“There’s another Lupe record that I want to do before the end of the year,” he said.
“Because it’s been so long, it’s been four years [since 2007’s ‘The Cool’], I think we have the opportunity to write almost, because it’s been so long.”
Fiasco added: “So I’m actively perusing getting the label to agree with that, and that will be it.”
The rapper also said his punk band Japanese Cartoon intended to release a new album in the summer.
‘Lasers’ includes guest collaborations with the likes of Skylar Grey, MDMA and Eric Turner, and was released on Monday (March 7) in the UK.
