Rihanna, Britney Spears Slammed Over Raunchy Billboard Music Awards Performance

A parents group has criticised Rihanna and Britney Spears performance at the Billboard Music Awards for being too raunchy.

The singer's collaborated on a remix of Rihanna's hit 'S&M' at the ceremony in Las Vegas on Sunday (May 22).

The performance saw both stars sport revealing bondage-style costumes as they danced provocatively round a strippers' pole before kissing each other.

The Parents Television Council has claimed that the “overtly sexualised performance” was not suitable for young viewers.

Tim Winter, spokesman for the Parents Television Council, told Reuters: “It certainly has no place at 8:00 p.m. on the publicly-owned broadcast airwaves.

“I cannot imagine what would possibly lead the ABC television network to air a profanity-laced, S&M sex show on primetime broadcast television.

“The overtly sexualized performance by Rihanna and Britney Spears was no accident or mishap, but a deliberate effort to target teens with images and lyrics that glamorize whips, chains and other sexual fantasies.”

It is not the first time one of Rihanna's TV appearances has come under fire.

Last year, Ofcom launched an investigation following Rihanna and Christina Aguilera's performance on The X Factor.
