Lady Gaga 'Honoured' As She Ends Adele's Album Chart Reign

Lady Gaga has ended Adele’s reign on top of the UK album chart.

The US singer’s second studio album ‘Born This Way’ debuted at number one, bringing to an end ‘21’s’ sixteen-week domination, reports the Official Charts Company.

The album has had the largest first week sales of any album in 2011 so far, selling more than 215,000 copies, more than the rest of the Top 10 combined.

On hearing the news Lady Gaga said: ''I feel so honored to have the highest first week sales in the UK this year. I wrote the album's first single Born This Way in Manchester because I was so inspired by the confidence and bravery characteristic of my fans: Little Monsters. To the United Kingdom, thank you for believing in me.''

Adele occupies both number two and number three on the UK album chart with ‘21’ and debut album ‘19’.

In the singles chart, Pitbull holds onto the top spot with Give Me Everything featuring Ne-Yo. While Swedish House Mafia are at number ten with ‘Save The World’.

Lady Gaga continues her chart domination with three singles in the UK top twenty; ‘Judas’ at number nine, ‘Born This Way’ at seventeenth and ‘The Edge Of Glory’ at number eighteen.
