Rihanna has been slammed over the video for her new single 'Man Down', which begins with her shooting a man in the head.
The video, which debuted on US TV earlier this week, was shot in Jamaica by director Anthony Mandler, who previously worked with Rihanna on the video to 'California King Bed'.
The 'Man Down' video begins with Rihanna taking deadly action against a man, who is later revealed to have apparently tried to rape her.
The singer has come under fire from watchdogs, with The Parents Television Council calling it a “cold, calculated execution of murder”.
A Mothers Against Violence spokeswoman told the Daily Mirror: “Murder happens all around us. We need solutions, not songs influencing vulnerable individuals. Sadly, these kind of scenes are a reality for some.”
Fans of the singer have also expressed their surprise. It has been reported that some scenes may be re-shot.
