The new Wii U console will only be able to support one touch-screen controller at a time, Nintendo have confirmed.
The Wii U will come complete with just one new controller - and it won't be sold seperately.
Nintendo guru Shigeru Miyamoto has said that if gamers want multiple controllers, then the 3DS may come in to play.
He told NowGamer.com: "Our basic premise is that you can use one [Wii U controller] with a system. If we got to an idea of having multiple controllers it might just be more convenient for people to use their Nintendo 3DS and have a way to connect that."
With the new console being demoed at the E3 festival, most games have featured only one person using the controller, with others having the use Wii-motes or Wii game pads.
Miyamoto added: "We are doing research about if someone brings their controller to their friends house and they want to play together on Wii U to whether or not something like that would be possible."
The Nintendo Wii U is set to be released in 2012.
