Scissor Sisters will provide original songs to the Fraggle Rock movie, it has been confirmed.
The big screen version of the Jim Henson creation has been in development for a number of years, but things seem to be heading in the right direction with the news that Jake Shears and Babydaddy will oversee the film's soundtrack.
Shears is becoming more familiar with this side of showbusiness, having scored the theatrical version of Armistead Maupin's novel Tales of the City.
The news has been broken by US publishers Spirit Music, who have recently signed a deal to look after the back catalogue of all Jim Henson Company's music.
Managing Director Mark Fried told Music Week: "By working with the Henson Company] right from the start means we can make music an integral part of the film. [We can make it] as important and as emotionally effective as the film-making."
Fraggle Rock became a favourite show of children the world over when the adventures of Red, Wembley and friends was first aired in 1983.
