John Barrowman has dismissed claims that Torchwood's move to California has Americanised the hit show.
Originally filmed in Cardiff, the Doctor Who spin-off moved to Los Angeles after executive producer Russell T Davies signed a deal with US TV channel Starz last year.
The move, made because of a growing fanbase in America, threatened to alienate British devotees, but Barrowman, who plays Captain Jack Harkness, insists they won't be disappointed with the new series.
He told The Daily Mail: "We’re filming a lot of scenes in American locations.
"But so much of every story revolves around Gwen’s kitchen that Warner built a duplicate in LA to avoid us having to fly back to Cardiff every week just to film inside her house."
Barrowman's co-star Eve Myles added: "A lot of people were worried the show would lose its identity, but I can assure you we haven’t abandoned Wales altogether.
"Some people were afraid it would lose the sense of what it’s about - namely, a Welsh sci-fi. But we’re not Americanising it at all. Yes, we’ve got American characters in it, but it’s our show and they’re guests in our house."
The new series, titled Torchwood: Miracle Day, premieres on BBC1 this Thursday (July 14) at 9pm.
