Actor Benjamin Walker is set to join the cast of Paradise Lost and play Bradley Cooper's enemy: archangel Michael.
The Flags of Our Fathers star, who is currently in talks to join the upcoming film adaptation of John Milton's poem Paradise Lost, will be playing the part of Archangel Michael. Walker will also be joining The Hangover actor Bradley Cooper, who has already been cast in the film as Lucifer, Michael's enemy.
Director Alex Proyas told Deadline: "Walker's deal isn't closed yet, but I think there's a wonderful duality about Ben's persona, this combination of great strength and perfect innocence that works so well for Michael."
Paradise Lost will concentrate on Cooper's character Lucifer, who after launching his army against the forces of good, gets rejected from heaven.
"It's a family saga, about a group of brothers, two in particular, who are on divergent paths, and Lucifer's feelings of betrayal by his father and family that forge his descent into evil," explained Proyas.
The director also discussed the visual effects for the movie: "I don't think the visuals could have been done justice until now, which is the great fun of being a film director in this modern age of visual effects," he said.
Paradise Lost, which has taken seven years to come into development is expected to be released at the end of 2013.
