Katy Perry has sung Happy Birthday to Freddie Mercury on what would have been the Queen frontman's 65th birthday.
In a video message, which you can watch below, Perry paid tribute to Mercury's all round stage presence and highlighted the impact he had on her own career.
“Happy 6tth birthday Freddie, we love you so much,” she said. “Even though you're gone, you're not really gone – you've inspired us all and you inspired me especially.
“Without you I wouldn't be making music or doing what I do because you're lyrics inspired me as a 15 year old girl. I heard 'Killer Queen' and I wanted to be a killer queen!
Katy Perry sings Happy Birthday in memory of Freddie Mercury, who would have turned 65 today (September 5).
“Thank you so much a for all of your amazing music, for Queen the band, for your whole persona, for your character and personality, which was larger than life. We love you and we'll never forget you.”
Mercury, widely regarded as one of the best frontmen of all time, died of bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS on November 24 in 1991.
