Gerard Butler and Lena Headey will both feature in the sequel to 300, according to reports.
The producer of the sequel, titled 300: Battle of Artemisia, Bernie Goldmann, has said that small parts have been written into the script to allow for the return of characters King Leonidas and Queen Gorgo.
He told Fandango: "It's a different story. [But] there is a small part for Lena [Headey]. There's a small part for Gerry [Butler]."
To ensure a greater level of authenticity, the film makers are seeking unknown actors to take on the lead roles, with Goldmann explaining: "When you make a period movie like that, it's great not to know the actors. For me, as an audience, it always brings me into the movie more.
"You can't see Tom Cruise in a historial movie. You go, 'That's Tom Cruise!'"
Directed by Noam Murro, and with a script written by Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad, 300: Battle of Artemisia is due for release in 2013.
