Spotify is among a number of music streaming sites who have teamed up with Facebook as part of a new online streaming initiative for the social network site.
The partnership will enable users to access over 15 million songs, share music with friends and see what tracks are trending on the site.
Details of the new music service were announced yesterday (September 22) at the F8 conference in San Francisco. It was confirmed that along with Spotify other partners would include Rhapsody, Soundcloud, Earbits, Vevo, Slacker Radio and Songza.
Speaking about the new music service, Spotify founder Daniel Ek said: ''You’ll now start seeing new music posts and play buttons all over your newsfeeds. Hit a play button and the music starts. Right there. Spotify fires up to give you a new soundtrack to your social life. Check out your new Music Dashboard and your real-time ticker to discover the music that’s trending with your friends.''
The news follows talks of Facebook and Spotify's plans to work together back in May, where users would be able to stream music from Spotify directly through to the social network site.
