X Factor hopeful Luke Lucas has responded to Gary Barlow's concerns that he was too young to appear on the show.
Barlow refused to put the 16-year-old into the live show stage of the competition after he struggled with his performance in front Robbie Williams at the judges' house.
In an interview today (October 3), both Barlow and Williams said they thought he was “too young” to cope with the pressure.
But appearing on BBC 5 Live, Lucas said that he was “disappointed” but “fine” after his early exit from the show.
“I'm not sobbing – I'm obviously disappointed,” he said.
Luke Lucas was left devastated when he was told that he wouldn't be continuing on the show.
He added: “I've got to take it all in my stride, I'm still very young, but I'm going to work proper hard.”
Lucas, whose exit raised concerns over the minimum age of X Factor hopefuls, said the experience of being on the show had been “absolutely fantastic, a dream”.
He also admitted that he had been “a little bit nervous” performing in front of Barlow and Williams.
There are 16-year-olds – Janet Devlin and Amelia Lily – through to the final sixteen of The X Factor.
