Hours after a sneak peek was released by Entertainment Tonight, Marvel have unveiled the first official trailer for The Avengers.
The ensemble piece brings together superheroes Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) for their first big screen adventure.
Tom Hiddleston plays Thor villain Loki, with appearances from Samuel L Jackson and Scarlett Johansson.
Joss Whedon, who created both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, directs the eagerly anticipated film.
The Avengers is released on May 4, 2012.
