The Stone Roses have officially confirmed that they are to reunite, fifteen years after splitting up.

The band, who recorded seminal 1990s albums The Stone Roses and Second Coming, announced at a press conference in London that they will play two dates at Machester's Heaton Park, on June 29 30 2012, and will include new songs in the set.

Formed in Manchester in 1983, The Stone Roses, which included members Ian Brown, Mani, John Squire and Reni, first came to prominence with a series of live sets at the Hacienda club in the late 1980's, proving to be a key influence to bands such as Oasis and the Charlatans.

All members of the band were in attendance at the press conference.

Tickets for the shows go on sale on Friday (October 21) at 9.30am. For more details and to buy The Stone Roses tickets, check out Gigwise Gig Tickets.
