The Stone Roses have announced their intentions to return with new material in the new year at a press conference in London.
The seminal 1990s band will play two sets at Manchester's Heaton Park in the summer of 2012, where they will perform new songs alongside classic titles.
Bassist Mani said: "Something magical happens when we come in a room together.
He also revealed that the loss of his mother was a guiding reason for the band getting back together, and revealed plans for "puttting live tracks out maybe as a free giveaway."
Mani added: "I've been allowed to follow my dream. It's getting a little surreal now. What the f**k have I done? It's never been about the money. I'm getting sick of getting asked those questions about The Stone Roses.
"Show me the mountain and I'll f***ing climb it."
He also revealed that the first song the band played when getting back together was Shoot You Down, which "sounded better than it used to."
He finished by saying: "Rock 'n' roll is just more than music."
Tickets for the shows go on sale on Friday (October 21) at 9.30am.
