Boy George Tells Adele To Quit Smoking In Order To Save Her Voice

Boy George has urged Adele to quit smoking before it ruins her career.

The London singer underwent surgery earlier this month after suffering a vocal cord haemorrhage which threatened to end her career.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Boy George has said that "it isn't a great idea" for a singer to smoke and has described his own decision to give up as "the best thing I ever did".

He said: "If you’re a singer and you smoke it really isn’t a great idea. I gave up smoking six months ago which was the best thing I ever did. I used to try to convince myself it made me sound jazzier. It was very difficult to give up but I’m so glad I did."

Adele has previously spoken about how much she enjoyed smoking and has even admitted that she'd sooner give up singing then stop smoking

Adele is quoted by The Sun as saying: "Smoking is not the reason I got laryngitis - it was because I was talking too much.

"I damage my voice off stage, not on stage. On stage I am fine as apparently I am technically great, but when I talk I damage my voice big time. I have got screwed into giving up smoking."

She added: "If I wasn't a singer I still would be smoking 25 a day. Smoking is my favourite thing to do in the world, I am gutted I have had to give up.

"But I have been tough - no patches, no gum, no hypnotism. It f*cking sucks."
