Matt Cardle has agreed with comments made by X Factor contestant Janet Devlin that the show sapped his creativity.
Devlin, who was kicked out of the show on Sunday (November 27), said she could have gone further if she'd have been a 'puppet' and done exactly what she was told.
Whilst appearing on Lorraine Kelly Show this morning, she said: 'To me the sad thing about X Factor — and it's brought me down a lot — is the fact that I've just been covering other people's songs.
'It got to the point where I felt like a karaoke artist every Saturday night.'
Adding: 'From the start of the show I wanted to be myself and I didn't really care, in the sense that I just did what was me. I could have been a puppet and done a lot better but why would I do that?'
Meanwhile, this year's X Factor winner could be set to cover Damien Rice's track 'Cannonball', it has been reported.
According to The Sun, Simon Cowell's Syco team are currently deciding what should be released as this year's X Factor winners song and 'Cannonball' is a top contender.
