First host in seven years...

LL Cool J has been announced to host the forthcoming 2012 Grammy Awards.

The rapper will be the first official host to front the 54th annual US music event at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on February 12, in seven years.

“I'm thrilled to be part of music's biggest night.” he said “I will always have fond memories of my first Grammy Awards and to now be hosting the Grammy show is a dream come true.”

Nominees for the prestigious Album Of The Year award include Adele's '21', Bruno Mars' 'Doo-Wops & Hooligans', Foo Fighters for 'Wasting Light', Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' and Rihanna's 'Loud'.

Kanye West has received has been nominated in seven categories; four for his solo work and three as part of his collaboration with Jay-Z on 'Watch The Throne'.

Bon Iver, Nicki Minaj and Skrillex have been nominated for Best New Artist Of The Year.

Elsewhere, Mumford & Sons receive four nominations including general field nominations for 'The Cave' in the 'Record Of The Year' and 'Song Of The Year' categories.

Radiohead and Rihanna are each nominated in four categories, while Coldplay, Minaj and Lady GaGa have each secured three nominations.

The 54th Grammy Awards will be held at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on February 12, 2012.
