Gary Glitter's 1972 track 'Rock And Roll Part II' will not be played at this Sunday's (February 5) Super Bowl.
National Football League bosses have ruled that the singer will not get a bumper payday from the tracks play at the event.
In previous years 'Rock And Roll Part II' has often played when a number of NFL teams score a touchdown.
It was reported earlier this week that Glitter, who has been convicted of child sexual abuse offences, could be set to earn thousands of pounds in royalties if the song was played during this weekend's Super Bowl.
The Daily Mirror reports that Brian McCarthy, a representative for the NFL, said: "We will not be playing any version of it."
Speaking ahead of her Super Bowl performance, Madonna has promised no nipple flashing during this years half time break.
A 'wardrobe malfunction' that saw Janet Jackson expose more than anybody had bargained for in 2004, has become infamous among Super Bowl performances.
During an interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Madonna joked "For sure, no nipples, I wasn't gonna go there - I don't like to repeat myself."
It was confirmed yesterday that both MIA and Nicki Minaj will join Madonna on-stage at this years Super Bowl for her performance of new track 'Gimme AllYour Lovin'. The pair who collaborate with Madonna on the single which is released on February 3, are to join the singer on stage during her 12 minute show.
