Mumford & Sons have revealed that they are in the final stages of finishing off recording their second album.

The band are currently working on the follow-up to 2009's 'Sigh No More', due to be released later this year.

In an interview with MTV, band member Ben Lovett said: "We are in the final stages, we're not finished, we don't quite know the exact tracklisting. We have kind of road-tested some songs, and we have picked up some new songs and dropped some ones that people might have thought we were going to be putting on the record.

We just want to make a record that's cohesive and one that we feel represents us best right now."

He added: "There just isn't [a release date yet]. We can't even say that any particular song is definitely on the record, because we just don't know. But we're being urgent with it, we're trying very hard."

Meanwhile, Mumford & Sons will headline this year's RockNess festival, it has been announced.

The band, who have been in the studio working on their second album, will be joined by fellow headliners Deadmau5 and Biffy Clyro.

Festival director Jim King said that he was "over the moon" that Mumford & Sons had agreed to perform at the event.
Justice, Metronomy and Azealia Banks have also been added to the line-up for year's RockNess festival.

Noah And The Whale, Death In Vegas and Ed Sheeran will also perform at the event, which takes place in Loch Ness in Dores near Inverness from June 8-10, 2012.
