What do you do if you're in a failing rock n' roll band these days? Well according to Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson you join a musical!

Yes! We could hardly believe it ourself this morning when the press release came through our inbox. The once respected  (ish) musician will now be joining Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of the Worlds – The New Generation.

It seems that Wilson wants to try out the career path of David Essex, we just hope he doesn't decided to marry a women who is the same age as his daughter or do a Tom Cruise and hook-up with a women who looks like a 13-year old.

According to the press release Wilson will be joining one of the world’s 'finest actors', Liam Neeson in the 'challenging' role as The Artilleryman.

It seems after a failing fourth album the ''frontman of indie rock band Kaiser Chiefs, who sold over three million copies of their debut album Employment in 2005'' is a bit short of cash.
