Lauryn Hill has announced that she will play her first UK show in over five years.
The former Fugees singer will play a one-off gig at Indigo in London's o2 arena. The date is set for April 14th 2012, and tickets are set to go on sale on March 23rd at 9am.
Lauryn Hill was the only female singer-rapper in The Fugees, which also included rapping sensation Wyclef Jean and Pras. The group are best known for their 1996 cover of Roberta Flack's 'Killing Me Softly', which appeared on their final album 'The Score'.
Lauryn released her debut album 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' after The Fugees split up in 1998, and it is critically regarded as one of the best albums of that year, earning the singer 10 Grammy nominations and five wins, including 'Best Album' in 1999.
Hill has hit headlines since her solo heyday for her controversial remarks and her poorly received live shows. However, fans have consistently stuck by the singer, and eagerly anticipate her next album. Lauryn has reportedly recorded a new song: 'Fearless Vampire Killer' which she debuted at a gig at the Warner Theatre, Washington DC earlier this year. Thus far, no new record has been announced.
