Paul Van Dyk has echoed fellow dance producer Deadmau5 in slamming Madonna's recent apparent comments on MDMA.

Madonna was criticised for mentioning 'molly' (street slang for pure ecstasy) in a speech at the Miami Ultra Music Festival. She later denied referring to the drug or supportin drug use.

Deadmau5 later told fans on Facebook that Madonna had reached a 'new level of idiocy'. Now, in an interview with Billboard magazine in the US, DJ Paul Van Dyk has echoed the criticism.

"I don't think she was thinking much. The only thing she was probably thinking was, 'I need to connect with a young crowd,' and she made the biggest mistake of her career," said Van Dyk. "Madonna was so stupid to actually call out drug abuse in front of a crowd of 18-year-olds. This is not what our music is about. It's really counterproductive."

The comments haven't done Madonna much harm however, her new album, 'MDNA' is on course for No.1 in the UK this week.
