Mystery Jets bass player Kai Fish has left the band, it has been confirmed.
Fish has been a permanent member of the group since they first emerged in 2005 and confirmed his departure from the band today (April 4).
Speaking to NME about the decision, Fish said: "It was probably the hardest thing I've ever done. I sat down with the guys and said, 'I'm finding being in the band really hard, but I'll try my best to carry on.' And I did, but feelings just don't go away."
Fish released his debut solo album, 'Life In Monochrome', in 2011.
Meanwhile, Mystery Jets have issued a statement on the departure via their official website, saying: "Since the beginning of the year Kai has decided to go separate ways from the band, focusing his time and energy on raising his beautiful baby girl Odessa and writing music for solo and collaborative projects. The departure has been an emotional one for all of us involved but also a very amicable one, Brother Fish will always be a best of friend and a Mystery Jet."
Mystery Jets will release their new album 'Radlands' later this year and have recruited new bassist Peter Cochrane and pedal steel player Matt Park to replace Fish.
