Pete Doherty has told of how he was unable to attend the funeral of his late friend Amy Winehouse due to the wishes of her father Mitch. It seems Mitch Winehouse was not keen on the two spending time together given the pairs' problems with substance abuse, deeming Doherty a bad influence on his daughter.
Speaking of their close friendship, Doherty offered the NME some insight into some of his last moments with Amy. "I think she would have wanted me at her funeral," he said of the ceremony that was held last July.
Clearly frustrated by being denied an invite, he stated "I'm made to feel that I'm not her friend, which I was." He went on to discuss the reunion of The Libertines last summer, and recounted the presence of Winehouse at one of the group's performances at The Forum. "We came back to the hotel and she stayed all night."
He again suggested Mitch obstructed his friendship with Amy while offering an additional anecdote. "She said, 'I saw you and Babyshambles play last week. I'll show you a real gig - come to my hotel room'. "Her dad turned up at the hotel and told me, 'You've got to go'."
His comments come after last week talking of his reaction to Amy's death, describing himself as being "knee-deep in shit" and "not able to move."
