Soundgarden have revealed that their first new song in 15 years, 'Live To Rise', will be given away to fans for free as part of promotion for the upcoming Avengers movie.

'Live To Rise' is set taken from the Marvel superhero movie Avengers Assemble, and is due to be given away as part of an iTunes promotion, which includes an exclusive clip from the blockbuster movie.

"The hard part of writing a song for a film is it has to act as a Soundgarden song, first and foremost, then obviously, it has to coexist with the film," band frontman Chris Cornell recently told Billboard magazine. Cornell has previously contributed music to soundtracks including Mission Impossible 2, Casino Royale and Machine Gun Preacher.

Soundgarden play Download Festival on June 10th as well as a headline slot at the opening night of Hard Rock Calling in London's Hyde Park on July 13th. For more information, visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
