The family of Bee Gees star Robin Gibb have spoken of their joy at the stars recovery from his recent coma.
Following ten days of having music played to him by his close relations, including brother and Bee Gees co-star Barry Gibb singing to him, Robin Gibb emerged from his coma on the weekend. Now his family have revealed they were expecting the worst.
"He is fantastic at the moment. He is laughing, he is joking, he is really happy. He just wants to get out," wife Dwina said to ITV news. "He has been very naughty because he pulled his feeding tube out so the nurses will have to put it back in again but he wants ice cream... he wants all kinds of things. It's good anyway."
She also added that despite the seemingly-successful attempt to revive the star with music, Gibb was happy with silence after waking.
"We played music to him for about ten days so we asked him if he wanted to listen to any more music and he said no," Dwina added. "We've bombarded him with music for about ten days. It was very interesting..."
Meanwhile, son Robin-John Gibb told how the family had not expected his father to pull through.
"Two days before that they said they'd thrown the kitchen sink at him, that it was time to make plans because he was in God's hands and such," said the son of the Bee Gee. "But he beats the odds again and they gave him an under 10% survival chance and he has beaten the odds... he really is something else."
