Singer scores platinum single with 'Lights' as she considers US move

Ellie Goulding can now be filed alongside One Direction and The Wanted as a big British overseas success, having sold over a million copies of her single 'Lights' in the US.

The Hereford singer, who recently revealed she was considering moving stateside to be closer to boyfriend Skrillex has achieved platinum status with her single, which was released in the UK in 2010.

Ellie's album was released in the US in 2011, and she supported Katy Perry and performed a number of US festivals in support of the album. She joined Barack Obama at the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the White House in December and has appeared on all the major US TV shows including David Letterman, Ellen and Saturday Night Live.

Speaking of her plans to move to America recently, telling The Sun newspaper: "I scarily love LA a lot so I’m thinking about moving here. My fans in the UK might be quite sad to hear that."

She also recently revealed that she was working with boyfriend Skrillex and Swedish House Mafia on her second album.
