Damon Albarn has spoken about his growing relationship with Noel Gallagher, saying that he has always admired the former Oasis guitarist and songwriter.
Despite being huge rivals during Blur and Oasis' 90's heyday, both Damon and Noel have softened their stance in recent months and have even become friends to some degree. Speaking about the possibility of collaborating with Gallagher one day, Damon suggests a novel idea in the new issue of Shortlist, out tomorrow (May 1).
"He should come on the Africa Express train in September," says Albarn, referencing the musical trip he took in 2011 alongside the likes of Kwes, Actress and XL's Richard Russell and is set to repeat later this year. "That’d be a nice chance to collaborate."
Asked about how his feelings for Noel have changed since the 90's, Damon also admitted that he always 'admired' Oasis.
"I never held anything against him, even right in the middle of it," he confessed. "I just kind of admired them in a way; that they were better at handling it all than me. They didn’t seem to get too affected by the bulls*it."
Damon also recently revealed that he hopes to continue working on both Gorillaz and Blur material in the future.
