Duran Duran are one of the big names confirmed for an Olympic concert this Summer, officially marking the start of the Summer games.
The band, led by Simon Le Bon, will represent England at the Hyde Park show on July 27 in a 'Team GB' bill comprising of Snow Patrol (Northern Ireland), Paolo Nutini (Scotland) and Stereophonics (Wales).
Speaking about his appearance at the show, Simon Le Bon says: "Performing to so many people on the most exciting day in sport for Great Britain will be one of the highlights of the last decade for us. We have been invited to represent England for this Team GB show, and we couldn’t be more proud. Seeing the torch being lit on the big screens before hitting the stage in this iconic location will be a great experience… we simply can't wait".
Meanwhile, Jonny Quinn of Snow Patrol adds: "Living in London and everything, with all the excitement, it's certainly an honor to be part of it. I think it will be very special."
The Olympics opening ceremony will be broadcast on big screens in the park between performances as it happens live.
Blur will headline a second Olympic concert this August, marking the end of the games.
Tickets for the opening ceremony celebration concert show go on sale on 4 May at 9AM. For more information, visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
