The official status of the upcoming Jimi Hendrix biopic 'All Is By My Side' has been thrown into doubt after the estate of the late guitar icon stated that they have not approved the movie.

Andre 3000 of Outkast will take the lead role in the film, which is currently shooting in Ireland. However, without any official backing from Experience Hendrix LLC, the company in control of of Hendrix name, the film is unlikely to feature any of his music.

A quote from the company given to Billboard reads, "Experience Hendrix, LLC, the family-owned company entrusted with safeguarding the legacy of Jimi Hendrix and administrator of the Jimi Hendrix music and publishing catalog has made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation."

Any possibility of a film happening in the future is not impossible but not, as Experience LLC says, "producing partners would, out of necessity, have to involve the company from the inception of any such film project if it is to include original Jimi Hendrix music or compositions."

All Is By My Side is expected to focus on Henrix time in London, England between 1966-67.
