Beth Ditto ended Gossip's album launch gig in London last night by performing an acapella tribute to the late Whitney Houston.
The band were performing at East London venue XOYO the day after their new album 'A Joyful Noise' was released and Ditto was in fine form, joking throughout the night about everything from new food recipes she has recently discovered, her love of Brighton and her attempts to seduce Gossip guitarist Nathan.
Refusing to get off the stage at the end of the gig, Ditto began singing Whitney Houston classics accompanied only by the crowd - performing a rough and ready version of the classic 'Greatest Love Of All'. Perhaps tongue in cheek, she claimed that "Whitney Houston died because she loved too much."
Earlier in the night, Gossip ran through a number of tracks taken from their new album, including recent single 'Perfect World'. Their set ended, officially, with a rapturuously received version of 'Standing In The Way Of Control' before Ditto began her tribute.
