Huey Morgan has publicly apologised to his 6Music colleague Lauren Laverne after criticising her on Twitter following the Sony Awards on Monday night.

As reported yesterday, Morgan slammed Laverne, as well as Fearne Cotton and 6Music itself, after he left the radio awards ceremony empty handed. In a series of insulting Tweets he claimed that Laverne doesn't programme her own show and that he was considering quitting the station.

However, facing the cold light of day, Morgan has backed down on his comments and Tweeted Laverne once more to apologise.

"I was a big fat baby last night & ungentlemanly. Mea Culpa," he said to the BBC presenter.

Morgan also claimed that "the dummy went out my pram" when he didn't win, adding: "Twitter isn't the best platform for people who say s*** before they think (as I did last night). I was an ass. That is all."
