Mel C: 'Chris Moyles will make a great King Herod'

Former Spice Girl Mel C believes that fans will love Radio 1 presenter Chris Moyles’ casting in Jesus Christ Superstar.

The radio breakfast show presenter has been cast as King Herod in the stage musical, with Mel C playing the role of reformed prostitute Mary Magdalene and comedian Tim Minchin as Judas.

Mel C recently spoke told how she was a huge fan of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals as a young girl and spoke of her excitement at touring with the UK arena show.

"Musical theatre has been a love of mine for a very long time. The 1980s was a time where Andrew Lloyd Webber became the king of musical theatre. But Jesus Christ Superstar has been with me all of my life," she said in an interview with Daybreak.

When asked about Chris Moyles been cast, she said "If people know the show they'll understand the casting, King Herod is a fun role. I've heard Chris sing before, he can sing, he's got a voice."

The former Sporty Spice has also spoken about the upcoming Spice Girls Viva Forever musical, which was rumoured to be delayed due to an alleged falling out with band member Mel B.

The singer said, "We're getting very close to getting the show on the theatre. It should show at the end of the year, if not early the next."

The Jesus Christ Superstar Arena tour will begin on September 21, tickets will be available this Friday May 18.
