The Invisible's Dave Okumu has suffered a life-threatening electrocution whilst performing onstage in Nigeria last week.

The frontman of the UK band was performing as part of a prelude to the London 2012 Olympics River of Music Festival. The singer is said to be in a serious condition in a UK hospital. An official statement from the British Council states:

"Dave Okumu has survived a life threatening electrocution whilst performing in Lagos, and is presently recovering in hospital in the UK. The band have cancelled all forthcoming engagements, and would like to thank everyone for their support and kind wishes."

It is reported by Thenetng.com that poor grounding in the stage set up caused Okumu's accident at the Agip Recital Hall . They report that The Invisible were onstage for 20 minutes before a bass guitar electrocuted the frontman, causing him to scream and fall to the floor.

The concert was cancelled immediately after the incident.

The band release their new album, 'Rispah' on 11 June, 2012.
