Blur have scrapped recording sessions with producer William Orbit, it has been revealed today.

The reformed band have often claimed that they are not planning to release a new album, however Orbit made it known via his Twitter page that he was in the studio with both Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon before he was removed from the project.

Speaking to NME, Orbit revealed: "The new stuff sounded amazing," Adding: "Then it all stopped suddenly. It was all over with Damon, and the rest of the band were like, 'is this it?'".

However, it could be Orbit's lack of discretion that led to the axe with the producer revealing a number of studio secrets to his Twitter followers that Blur would most likely want to keep a secret. Orbit shared dates he was working with Albarn on as well as complimenting Graham Coxon on his guitar work one day.

In another message, Orbit told a fan how, "Blur could have been good. But Damon, brilliant and talented tho he is, is kinda a shit to the rest of Blur."

However, new album or not, Blur will return to the stage later this year for a run of small shows before a huge Olympic closing show in London's Hyde Park.
