Blur's Alex James has hinted that the band are still recording new material, despite reports this week claiming that a new album plan had been scrapped by Damon Albarn.

Bassist James Tweeted yesterday to say simply, "I love being in the studio with blur #blur"

This goes to rubbish claims made by William Orbit earlier in the week in which he said an album he was making with the band had been scrapped by Damon Albarn. "The new stuff sounded amazing," Orbit said. Adding: "Then it all stopped suddenly. It was all over with Damon, and the rest of the band were like, 'is this it?'".

It now looks more like Orbit has been merely replaced as producer of the material, possibly for not being able to keep details of the new album under wraps.

Meanwhile, Blur will be back on the stage this Summer, having recently announced details of four tiny warm-up dates before their huge Olympics gig at Hyde Park in August.
