Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins will play the role of Iggy Pop in the upcoming movie about New York venue CBGB's.

Hawkins certainly has the right look to play the former Stooges frontman and is one of the first iconic roles to be cast for the film with the roles of Patti Smith, David Byrne and many other key musicians on the scene at that time still to be announced.

As reported last week, Rupert Grint (Harry Potter) will play the role of Cheetah Chrome of the Dead Boys in the film, titled simply CBGB, which is to be released in 2013. He will star opposite Malin Akerman (Watchmen, The Heartbreak Kid) who has landed the prize role of playing Debbie Harry in the film.

Meanwhile, Alan Rickman will play the central role of Hilly Kristal, the owner of CBGB's. He will appear alongside Seinfeld actress Estelle Harris, who will play his Mother. Joel David Moore and Julian Acosta have been cast to play Joey and Johnny Ramone respectively.
