'Call My Name' star Cheryl Cole has responded to recent suggestions that she mimed during her energetic performance on The Voice UK, saying she takes criticism of her live vocals as a compliment of her talents.

The singer raised eyebrows recently when she performed a breathless routine on The Voice UK recently, and delivered a faultless live vocal - causing online discussion over whether she sung live. Her spokesperson later denied the accusations, and now Cheryl has spoken of being 'complimented' by the controversy.

"If you think my live vocal sounds so good it must be mimed, I'm happy," says Cheryl in an interview with BBC News. "I take it as a compliment."

She also added that while she only co-wrote two tracks on her new album 'A Million Lights', she considered her third release her best to date.

"You have to connect with something you're singing about," she adds. "I'm not going to sing about a subject I've not got any feeling for."
